About Us (Me?)
My name is Dean Clough, and Sonic.Build is an extension of owning Casa Integration, a residential technology design/build firm I started in 2002. I assemble each of our Roon Endpoints by hand in my San Francisco workshop.
In a quest for a uniquely capable music system, I discovered Roon, and the rest, as they say, is history. While not for everyone, and although Sonos and others offer more, Roon is indeed unique in today's digital world. As are my products.
Each is designed to be simple to use, with a decidedly "less is more" approach. They are Roon Endpoints, period, nothing more, nothing less. The be-all, end-all in sound quality, and definitive audiophile statements? Not at all - if that's what you're looking for, you're in the wrong place.
But we do offer terrific-sounding Roon Endpoints at reasonable prices. For example, I use a Sonic Bitstream with a Parasound zDAC v2, and a pair of Sennheiser HD-650 cans - I don't know how one could realistically need anything better?
A question we're asked often is, "Can't I build these myself?" The answer is absolutely. But we believe there's a meaningful number of people that 1) are interested in Roon, 2) are not technology hobbyists, and 3) are not interested paying the exorbitant prices others charge - for differences in performance no human can perceive.
Thank you for your interest - drop me a line at dean@sonic.build if you have any questions or ideas for making our Roon Endpoints or Servers better.
